[edit] Biography

Lin was born in Taiwan in 1975. She moved to Los Angeles California with her family at the age of 9. She finished college at the University of California in Irvine (UC: Irvine) with a Degree in Economics and Comparative Literature. Not knowing what to do after college, Lin decided to pursue a career in show business in Taiwan. She initially wanted to be a singer and has already recorded demo tapes for a record company, but the offers for modeling on TV and print AD kept pouring in. She was hailed by FHM as Asia's Sexiest Woman in 2002 and has graced the cover of numerous fashion magazines, not only in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China. She has also appeared on copies of Marie Claire - French Edition (2005) and VOGUE Italia (2007). As unstoppable as she is with modeling, Lin has been seen in a various Hong Kong films and has worked with film directors such as Tsui Hark, Patrick Tam and, most frequently, Johnnie To. Lin has also paired with Asian superstars, including Andy Lau, Stephen Chow and Ekin Cheng. With her success as an actress, she eventually dropped her hopes of being a singer.

After a two-year of hiatus from her movie career in 2003, Lin re-entered movie making in 2005. This time, she wanted to challenge her acting abilities by accepting roles that were different from her previous characters. From a timid Japanese journalist in Tokyo Trial, to an ambitious prostitute in After This Our Exile, Lin proved to everyone that she was more than just a pretty face. She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2006 Hong Kong Awards for After This Our Exile. She proved to be a "no nonsense" actress by appearing in international film festival-worthy movies. In 2006, she worked with award-winning French director, Olivier Assayas, and shared film credits with Italian-born Hollywood actress, Asia Argento, in the movie, Boarding Gate. This movie aired at the Midnight Screening of 2007 Cannes Film Festival. She also co-starred the three-part segment film, Triangle', which was also shown at the festival. She also appeared at the premiere of her movie, Mad Detective, which was a runner-up and a "surprise film" at the Venice International Film Festival. Despite her achievements, Lin always maintained her "low-key" status.

Her next film is Sparrow, directed by Johnnie To, which has been in production for 4 years, was nominated for the "Golden Bear" at the [[Berlin International Film Festival] . She has recently signed a 2-year film contract under the new management company of international superstar Michelle Yeoh, which is slated to be launched on May 2008. Despite of her successful career, Lin still has set her mind for marriage and having 3 kids. She is currently rumored to be dating Taiwanese pop idol Ken Chu.
