Kelforum
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kelforum is a search engine designed to test a new technology that creates real-time search engines for a very low cost.
It currently takes search engines some weeks or months to refresh totally. In fact, they do not have unlimited server capacities, so they cannot crawl all the pages stored on their database every day. Therefore, a lot of results of major search engines are outdated (either content has totally changed or pages no longer exist). Furthermore, the last web modifications are not visible to most of the internet users.
To achieve their goal, Kelforum will index the web normally, then it will be progressively changed in a real-time engine.
The technology chosen to build the engine was the one from the Nutch open-source project. Using an open protocol, they hope to demonstrate easily that their real-time system can be plugged to any commercial search engine.
