Kelapa Gading

Kelapa Gading is a subdistrict of North Jakarta, Indonesia. The subdistrict is divided into 3 administrative villages (kelurahan); West Kelapa Gading, East Kelapa Gading, and Pegangsaan Dua. The postcodes for Kelapa Gading are 14240 and 14250.

Kelapa Gading is located in North East Jakarta, surrounded by subdistricts Cempaka Putih, Sunter and Pulo Mas. It stretches west to east from By Pass road to Cakung and north to south from Koja to Perintis Kemerdekaan road. Kelapa Gading has a total area of 1.633,7 hectare, or 2,14% of the total Jakarta city.

In Jakarta, Kelapa Gading is famous among the food lovers. They can find Indonesian food (Minang food, Javanese food, Sundanese food, Manadonese food, Makassarese food, etc), Chinese food, Japanese food, Thai food and Western food. The central point in Kelapa Gading is the area for food, known as Gading Food City. Nowadays, Kelapa Gading is famous as a prestigious shopping centre area. Kelapa Gading is one of the subdisctrict in Jakarta, with five shopping malls in 20 kilometer radius. In 2004, Kelapa Gading has approximately 365,000 m2 of shopping centres.

- Mal Kelapa Gading; The mall opened in 1990 and is the largest shopping mall in this area. Build by Summarecon Agung, Kelapa Gading real estate developer. The mall houses branded boutiques such as Zara, Aigner, Calvin Klein, and Versace. Beside, it has Sogo, Star department store, and Farmer's Market supermarket(used to be Diamond Supermarket). The mall is also home to Indonesia's largest bookstore chain, Gramedia. Today it is the market leader in the area, famous with its food stall which integrated to Gading Food City.
- La Piazza; another mall next to Mall Kelapa Gading and also created by Summarecon. It offers the life style concept and open space plaza for live music.
- Sport Mall; built to accommodate the sporting events in North Jakarta. Also famous for its "Britama Arena", which is the home base for IBL champion "Satria Muda" basketball club.
- Mal Artha Gading; opened in 2002. It is a thematic mall and also the second biggest in this area (?), famous for its Go-Kart circuit on top of the building. Diamond Supermarket from Mal Kelapa Gading to this mall. This movement's reason is still unknown, but there's issue that there's a little conflict between the owner of Diamond Supermarket and Mall Kelapa Gading developer.
- Kelapa Gading Trade Center; A trade center which tried to imitate Mangga Dua (famous grocery center in Jakarta).
- Mall of Indonesia; The last Mall which is currently under development, integrated to Kelapa Gading Square (Superblock of Apartment, Ruko (Rumah Toko or House-Shop, a shop on the lower level and a residence on the upper level), Houses, and Carrefour department store)

There are many bus services provided by TransJakarta, PPD, Mayasari Bakti, Kopaja, and city transport. TransJakarta buses stop along Perintis Kemerdekaan road and By Pass road. Pulo Gadung bus terminal is located near Kelapa Gading, and is connected to inner-city terminala and inter-city in Java.

Visitors can also travel to Kelapa Gading by taxi. There are taxi stands at Mal Kelapa Gading, Mal Artha Gading, Gading Food City, and all apartments.
