[edit] Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
|
|
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways, from comparing articles that need work to other articles you've edited, to choosing articles randomly (ensuring that all articles with cleanup tags get a chance to be cleaned up). It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 04:09, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Devolution
Sorry for sticking my notes in the wrong place mate. Won't happen again. :)
I noticed you have the User Devolution userbox on your page. I have only just realised that this userbox had previously been deleted and, when I created it, I wasn't aware of its past history. I'd advise you to take a look at the wording to see if the Userbox meets your personal beliefs. You've probably noticed already, but I just thought it was fair to make sure you're aware anyway. Cheers. --Mal 06:54, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:JulianSimmons.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:JulianSimmons.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Media images empey2 right-1-.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Media images empey2 right-1-.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 21:46, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Newslinemain130404i-1-.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Newslinemain130404i-1-.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 20:37, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] UK userbox vote
Hi there Keith! I noticed that you voted on the issue of what the UK userbox should say. I wondered if you might like to explain your vote briefly on the page, as "Signatures without included reasoning are liable to recieve a lower vote weight (i.e. their vote may not be fully credited during counting)" according to the poll authors. [edit] PIRA talk
Hey Keith. I thought you might be interested in a discussion going on between myself and an American on the PIRA discussion page. It might be likely to make your blood boil, so consider yourself warned lol! One of the reasons I have left both you and User:Stumason messages about this is because of the possibility of future POV edits from this user. JDorney is, I believe, nominally nationalist from the RoI, and he has contributed much to the Provos article. I respect him for his great efforts in being Non-POV, and you might be interested in reading his response to this guy too. The discussion sections can be found here: Talk:Provisional Irish Republican Army#What's a "terrorist" organization? and Talk:Provisional Irish Republican Army#The McCartney killing. Heppy Easter btw :) --Mal 06:14, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Nir londonderry flaglogo bykeith.PNG
Thanks for uploading Image:Nir londonderry flaglogo bykeith.PNG. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

- Hello and welcome to Mr Ducky's Wikihome. Mr Ducky would love to respond to your message, but can't, due to the fact he is a Duck, and therefore cannot talk (it's due to his lack of lips). Thanks for stopping by and come back soon. - TheKeith 09:47, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
Mr Ducky, I love your purple lips. Are they naturally purple, or do you use lipstick? - Wezzo 22:09, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Duds
Just to let you know, the templates "User MrDucky2" and "User MrDucky3" do not work, but I want them on my userpage. Can you fix this?
Ok, I've fixed them
- Hi, sorry for the late reply, I don't usually check this talk page. Yes those templates were removed in one of the numerous user box culls. [edit] Moving Userboxes
Nice work, dude. I've done some work fixing up dead references so they point at your new shiny UBs. Could I request that you use {{User GUS UBX to}} to mark the replacements rather than your custom code? This is partly to make things more uniform, but mostly laziness on my part, because it would mean that I didn't have to fiddle around with more nasty regexes and could do the job in one swell foop as it were…. If you want to drop me a line when you do some more, I can fire up AWB again and fix them. TIA HAND —Phil | Talk 07:03, 28 June 2006 (GMT)
Please do not move the DofE user boxes as it messes upmy user page and DofE is an english thing not a german thing. I have no problem withi then fixing of user boxes but please do not move user boxes as it messes up my user page. thank--Lucy-marie 21:54, 1 July 2006 (GMT)
[edit] Here comes the Spiderman!
(Wikipedia:No climbing the Reichstag dressed as Spiderman)
I have threatened to climb the Reichstag, dressed up as and did so, became bollocked from editing for violating Wikipedia policy against climbing the Reichstag dressed as Spiderman, and then had it become an official policy on Wikipedia (and to be an official decree by the Supreme Cabal Regime of the English Wikipedia (SCREW)). Is Absolutley fantasitic!. This is so great!
"In extreme cases editors may be tempted to climb the Reichstag building dressed as Spiderman in order to promote their cause. This is absolutely forbidden and can result in an indefinite block from editing Wikipedia."
This single event is a great example of all the good qualities of our beloved Wikipedia! Horay!
Thats what I love about this Wonderful, wonderful website.

Thankyou!

[edit] Lenny Murphy
Can you please keep an eye out on the Murphy page? There is very non-encyclopaedic and POV language being used for political reasons. I understand he evokes a lot of hatred and resentment, but POV is POV, except for some for whom it is only POV when you don't agree. I am only asking because I am very busy at work and cannot monitor as I would like to do.

[edit] Why did youmove the user boxes?
Can I ask what the point Is of moving the user boxes In the first place Is? It seams to me to be an inconveniance as people now have to update there codes. This seams ludicrous to move the user boxes at all It seams like things are trying to be fixed that aren't broken. IF you can answer my questions I would be most apreciative.
-
- If you read WP:TGS, a link I have provided every time I move the boxes, and above, you would find out. It's a way of sorting out the recent issues with have dogged Userboxes. Basically it says that Userboxes should be moved from Template space to User space. Thanks for reading. theKeith Talk! 13:43, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I have been unable to import the new code courtesy of you moving the user boxes please can you give me the code to insert before I go mad and scream at the machine or I may be forced to revert the other user box page. Anyway why not keep both pages going?--Lucy-marie 13:55, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Call me Ignorant but I don't quite understand what you want me to do with the try this page you have supplied me with. Please help--Lucy-marie 14:07, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I grant you full permission to add these to my user page. I only grant full permission to you and to nobody else and only to add these user boxes and nothing else. Thanks for helping me out.--Lucy-marie 14:13, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Northern Ireland edit war
Hi Keith. I've recently been banned (12 hours) for violating 3RR with regard to the Northern Ireland article.
[edit] Background
It had been decided in the article Constituent country that Northern Ireland was indeed one of the four constituent countries of the UK, and citations were included in the article and on the discussion page.
From that decision, it was logical to include this information on the Northern Ireland article itself. To that end, I edited the article to change the wording (which had, at that point, been changed to "constituent entities"). The Northern Ireland article was reverted several times, and on the talk page it had been suggested that citations were needed. Initially I pointed to the citations on the Constituent country article, and suggested some of the citations there were included in the NI article if it was thought really necessary.
Eventually, I added the citations myself - seven of them, expecting the most relevant ones to be kept and the others pruned. Apparently however, this was still not good enough for some editors who had been reverting the article.
[edit] Currently
As it stands at the time of writing this, I have reverted the article with the citations included. I fully expect this to be reverted again, as soon as certain editors get wind of it.
The article, when reverted to the "constituent entities" version has a large (what I would consider POV) footnote attached, explaining how nationalists reject any notion that Northern Ireland is a constituent country. How the term "constituent entity" is any better for nationalists is beyond me, save for the ommission of the word "country". It had been established on the Constituent country page that Northern Ireland is a country (within a country).
The phrase (which I have never heard of before) "constituent entity" is wikilinked to the Home nations article - which itself describes, in the introduction, how the home nations are "the four constituent countries of the United Kingdom — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland".
[edit] Conspiracy
I have been accused of "launching racist abuse", making "snide attacks against Irish people" and "POV-pushing" on another article's talk page[[1]] by one editor involved in the dispute, who has also suggested I have been "up to his old antics" to a new editor (and generally sullying my name), and has been 'recruited' by another editor on his talk page.
I would appreciate your guidance and help on this matter, as I merely want to be factual as per usual for this Encyclopedia, if you have the time to spare.
Thanks for listening in any case. --Mal 14:29, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Update: I have requested a Peer review on the article. --Mal 12:37, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
