Keith R. McFarland (born 1956) is an American consultant, author, and lecturer on leadership and business growth. He is author of The Breakthrough Company: How Everyday Companies Become Extraordinary Performers, and is a regular contributor to Businessweek and Inc. magazines.

McFarland received a BS and an MBA degree from Pepperdine University, where he later served, at the age of 26, as associate dean of the the Pepperdine University School of Business and Management. He went on to serve as CEO of two technology firms: Collectech Systems Inc. in Westlake Village California, and Nivo International of Orem Utah. He founded the strategic advisory firm McFarland Strategy Partners in 2001.

McFarland’s book, The Breakthrough Company: How Everyday Companies Become Breakthrough Performance, is based on the results of a five-year study of more than 7,000 growth companies. The book debuted at #1 on the Wall Street Journal bestseller list, and was also a national bestseller on lists published by the New York Times, USA Today, and Businessweek. In April 2008, his article “Strategy 2.0: Building Strategy Like Software” was published by the MIT Sloan journal Management Review.
