Keith Langseth (born January 20th, 1938) is a Democratic Farmer Labor Party member of the Minnesota Senate, representing District 9 since 1980. Prior to his election to the Senate he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from district 9B which he was elected to in 1974. His district includes Clay, Becker, Wilkin, and Traverse County in Northwestern Minnesota.
Langseth serves as Chair of the Capital Investment Committee, a position he has held since since its creation in 2001, and as a member of the Taxes, Agriculture and Veterans, Agriculture and Veterans Budget and Policy Division, Transportation, Transportation Budget and Policy Division, and the Rules and Adminstration Committees. His stated legislative interests include bonding, tax policy, transportation, education, and agriculture.

Senator Langseth grew up in Glyndon, Minnesota, where he still currently resides. He graduated from Glyndon High School in 1956 and began working as a Dairy Farmer. Langseth has continued farming throughout his tenure in the legislature. He and his wife Lorraine have 3 children, Dan, Gayle, and Joy.[1]

Langseth became involved in the DFL because of opposition to the Vietnam War. He was asked by the local DFL party to run for the state House of Representatives in 1974 and chose to run for the State Senate in 1980. In both elections, Langseth ran against an incumbent. Langseth is the longest serving member currently in the State Senate.
