KEFB is a religious television station in Ames, Iowa, broadcasting locally on channel 34. Founded November 29, 2005, the station is owned by Family Educational Broadcasting. In addition to religious programming, the station also serves the community as an independent educational station.
[edit] History
The station was originally granted a construction permit on July 12, 1996, as provisional station 960712KL. The station would not be officially granted a full license until 2005, when they were granted the call letters KEFB.
[edit] Digital television
Because it was granted an original construction permit after the FCC finalized the DTV allotment plan on April 21, 1997 [1], the station did not receive a companion channel for a digital television station. Instead, on or before February 17, 2009, which is the end of the digital TV conversion period for full-service stations, KEFB will be required to turn off its analog signal and turn on its digital signal (called a "flash-cut").
