[edit] Sources

I believe that using appropriate sources is very important. My current goal is to try to provide sources for articles I have already edited. I am just starting work on this goal. My interest in use of appropriate sources has arisen from discussions and disagreements with other editors regarding "sourcing" I had seen.

[edit] Non-neutral sources

I have seen some editors rely on non-neutral sources for their edits. According to Wikipedia policy, sources should be reliable. The policy states that "reliable sources are credible published materials with a reliable publication process; their authors are generally regarded as trustworthy, or are authoritative in relation to the subject at hand." As such, inflammatory sources are not ideal, except to extent that they represent a particularly noteworthy perspective on a controversial topic.

[edit] No sources for non-neutral information

Acording to Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia, including unsourced, non-neutral information should be aggressively removed. He wrote in May 2006, "I can NOT emphasize this enough. There seems to be a terrible bias among some editors that some sort of random speculative 'I heard it somewhere' pseudo information is to be tagged with a 'needs a cite' tag. Wrong. It should be removed, aggressively, unless it can be sourced."[1]
