KBVU began broadcasting on July 20, 1994 as the Eureka, California Fox affiliate.

It replaces a secondary FOX affiliate seen on KAEF since 1987.

Though Sainte Partners II, L.P. owns the license, the station is, in effect, run by Eureka Television [1], which also operates the CBS (KVIQ), The CW (KUVU-LP), and Univision (KEUV-LP) outlets in the market.

The Eureka television market is the only TV market in California currently not available on either Dish Network or DirecTV.
