[edit] Plural
Does the transliteration of the plural "aqdya" include a typo...? ("qadya" or "qadyah"...?) Just checking, David Kernow 11:28, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- The usual transliteration would be aqḍiya (the 'i' was missing) -- this is an Arabic broken plural; I have put in a phonetic transcription: [ɑqd̪ˁijɑ]. --Macrakis 18:39, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Caza
Many maps - probably french - use the word Caza. Should we mention? Obina 23:17, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- Done. --Macrakis 18:39, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Qadaa vs. Kaza
I recently merged in Kaza to Qadaa, but upon reflection, it might make more sense to put the merged article under "Kaza", which is the more common English term (not transliteration)--though some news from Iraq uses the spelling Qadaa now. The form qadaa is closer to a transliteration (though a better transliteration would be qaḍāʾ). --Macrakis 18:39, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Original contents of Talk:Kaza
I propose this article renamed "ilçe", because it is the right term and has wider use since the beginning of the Turkish Republic. Filanca 22:20, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- The Ottoman term is used in many of the former Ottoman countries, and is covered in the article qadaa (the same word in Arabic pronunciation). I will merge in the Ottoman content of 'kaza' into that article, and then there can be a separate article about ilçe specific to the Turkish Republic. --Macrakis 02:47, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Done. I have made ilçe redirect to Districts of Turkey. On second thought, I wonder if I should have put the merged article at Kaza, which seems like the appropriate English word. --Macrakis 06:18, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Page merger, 12 January 2007
This page is the result of a merge from two pages, Kaza and Qadaa. The merger was first performed by copying material from Kaza into Qadaa ([1]). I am now moving the resulting article back here, to Kaza, as per the uncontroversial move request above, and merging the two talk pages. As the edit histories of both articles have large temporal overlap, I am not doing a merger of page histories; instead, I am moving the old Kaza page, with its history, to Talk:Kaza/Archived article. GFDL purists, take note. For page history and authorship attribution, please refer to the histories of both Kaza and Kaza/Archived article. Fut.Perf. ☼ 19:14, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
