Kazumura Cave

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kazumura Cave is, at 61,420m (40 miles), the longest, and at 1,101m (3,614 feet), the deepest lava tube in the world. Located on the eastern slope of Kilauea, the southernmost and most recently active volcano on the Big Island, Hawai'i.

Although this cave is still being explored, the most important discoveries were made during the 1990s - when several small caves were discovered to be connected to it.

Despite Kazumura not being a commercial cave, limited tours are given by a local caver.
