The video from which this image was taken was not a professionally produced and edited product but a spontaneous amateur recording by an eyewitness to the event. As mentioned, he made the video available in protest of the police action. The amateur videographer has shown no interest in making commercial use of the video. In any case, the use of one screenshot in the article "Human rights in Kazakhstan" is exceedingly unlikely to compete with any commercial or artistic interest the videographer might have. Rather, the use in Wikipedia furthers the interest he has shown in bringing this action by the Kazakhstan police to public attention. The image has several times been deleted from the article "Human rights in Kazakhstan" by editors apparently unhappy about the story the image tells. |
