Kaya toast
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kaya toast is a popular snack amongst Singaporeans and Malaysians where kaya is a local favourite spread eaten on not just toast, but fresh bread and cream crackers. [1][2][3][4]
Essentially, kaya and usually butter or margarine are spread on two pieces of preferably toasted bread although any untoasted bread can be used and ready to serve. Alternatively, the Kaya jam and butter or margarine can be spread on the same slice of bread.
Singaporeans and Malaysians like to consume this food with a cup of tea or coffee. Ya Kun Kaya Toast in Singapore is one of the several franchises which have made this snack more than just a breakfast item, given the proliferation of its outlets in recent times. Coffeeshops usually sell this snack as well.
