Kay Arthur

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kay Arthur is an international Bible teacher, four-time Gold Medallion award-winning author, and founder of Precept Ministries International.[1]

Kay and her husband, Jack, were serving as missionaries in Mexico in the late 1960s when medical problems forced them to return to their hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee. There Jack managed a Christian radio station while Kay led a Bible study for teenagers in their living room. Soon the Bible study started meeting in a barn and attracting adults too. At that time, Jack left his radio career to help expand his wife’s ministry into Precept Ministries International.[2]

Since founding Precept Ministries, Kay has written more than 100 books and Bible studies for children, teens, and adults.[3] Her inductive Bible studies are available in nearly 150 countries in nearly 70 languages.[4] Precept inductive Bible study groups meet in all 50 states.[5] She is the teacher and host of Precepts for Life, a radio and television program with an audience of more than 94 million. (1) Her television program airs on over 900 stations in 30 countries.[6] In addition to her radio and television ministries, Kay teaches in person at various events, including Deeper Still: The Event, a weekend event sponsored by LifeWay Christian Resources, where she shares the stage with Beth Moore and Priscilla Shirer. [7]

In August 2007 Kay received a Doctor of Humane Letters from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee.[8] She serves as executive vice president of Precept Ministries, and she and Jack share the office of CEO. The Arthurs live in Chattanooga, Tennessee.[9]
