Katamine is a collaborative acoustic project that joins a changing cast of artists with the haunting music of successful singer/songwriter Assaf Tager. The concept was developed to create a free flowing trade of ideas, in which each artist and musician adds their own unique motives and layers to Tager's already densely beautiful work.

After graduating from the London Music Academy, Tager began to take on musical projects that challenged different aspects of his ability. During this time, among other projects, he played guitar for Elliott Smith, and scored string arrangements for the pop group Moloko. Soon after, he decided to return to Israel to pursue his own goals. He became a member of the Israeli super-group "Family Butchers," which was soon asked to record by renown record producer Bob Weston ( Nirvana, Pixies, Guided By Voices, etc) but was primarily focused on his solo work, which became the idea for Katamine.

Katamine's collaborative efforts have manifested in two albums. "Lag," the second of which, is an engaging, deeply layered record. It combines Tager's work, well-known Israeli producer Uri Frost, and the biggest names in Israeli independent music. Israeli media has called it "a beautiful, cruel and gloomy cd; more painful than Elliot Smith, [and as] powerful as Kurt Cobain."

Like Tager's band work, Lag produced such a positive media response that yet another legendary producer asked them to travel to New York City to record. This time it was Wharton Tiers (Sonic Youth, Helmet, Nick Cave, etc). Katamine is now in the US recording and touring on the success of Lag, and looking to continue collaborating with artists from all over the world, bringing the concept of community within music to new heights, and creating honest, humble, and inspiring music.
