[edit] Notes
--Modemx 16:42, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC) Added some notes so people can get an idea of Acker's literary style and themes. I'ts not much use talking about a writer if you don't get an idea of how they wrote.
What's the best work to start out on by Kathy Acker? If anyone knows email me at Canadian_Lynx2002[at]yahoo[dot]com or just post here.
[edit] Feminist?
--looceefir 23:15, 14 March 2006 (UTC) If anyone is reading this discussion page, I'd like to raise the question of how casually Acker is referred to as a 'feminist'. She frequently denied involvement with any feminist movement, which isn't to say that she shouldn't be referred to using this label. I think the opening: Kathy Acker was an American sex-positive feminist writer sounds horrid. It also creates an immediate impression of Acker that I feel is misleading. I'd suggest that the use of 'feminist' be qualified, or at the very least that 'sex-positive feminism' should be shifted out of the first sentence. I'll check the history for what has been used previously, but I think one of the many configurations of 'post-punk post-feminist post-porn' could be used instead.
[edit] French Feminists
--Trilonaut The entry says she was influenced by "the French feminists". Names? Links? All of the men who are listed as influences are named and linked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.99.32.7 (talk) 18:13, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] References and headings
This page begs citations and the introduction of more headings or subheadings. As soon as I find time, I'd like to work on those, and any hand in the effort would be greatly appreciated! Cheers! --Chuchunezumi 04:21, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Great! I'm reviewing a book of essays by Acker originally published by Serpent's Tail which contains statements by her clarifying the bio quite a bit. At the moment we're often posting the myth here-- and that's important too-- but the real woman deserves to make a larger appearance. There's also a sad tradition in which the mainstream media assigns an avant garde writer to whichever name they manage to recognize in your bio. The most famous names (Burroughs, Warhol) collect everyone's disciples that way. Preparing classes right now pre-semester but then will get a chance to write. G. Leonard. August 16, 2006.

[edit] Personal life
I note that basic biographical information is missing, such as her education, her two marriages, her education, and her family. It's not hard to find, but I'm too close to want to add it myself (she was, for a short time, my sister-in-law.) [1] is a good start. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 23:39, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Marriages
She married twice, and divorced twice -- do we count annulments (in general) when we say "divorced"? One of her marriages was annulled after barely a month, if I recall correctly. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 02:42, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
