Kato Tadaaki

Katō Tadaaki (加藤忠明?) (?-?) was a retainer beneath the clan of Toyotomi throughout the latter Sengoku Period of Feudal Japan. Being the younger brother to the relatively famous warrior known as Kato Yoshiaki, Tadaaki was more obligated than not to support his brother's name, becoming a full-fledged retainer under the Toyotomi and remaining in such a respective position for many years. However, as his elder brother rightfully drifted into service beneath Tokugawa Ieyasu initially following the death of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Tadaaki followed suit, supporting the 'western' forces during the Sekigahara Campaign of 1600. Within this campaign, Tadaaki was tasked to defend all of the Kato's lands that layed within the province of Iyo, both crushing and tearing apart all forces--most generally the Koto and the Mori--who attempted to land within his region of defense, scoring Tadaaki a great level of praise from Ieyasu and an increase in his general fief of koku. The future of Tadaaki's life remains unknown following this point in time, but it can be easily surmisable that he was able to survive at least a decade or two into the Edo Period, presently holding a position of note.
