Kathryn is first introduced as Sam's preppy, seemingly nice roommate. But after the death of Devon's roommate John, she becomes venomous towards Sam because she told the truth of what happened. She and Sam war constantly afterwards, until they patch up their differences later.

Kathryn was determined to become the part of the same sorority that Sam wanted to be in. At one point she even made peace with Sam so that she would put in a good word for her. But, one night at Colony, Sam secretly sees Kathryn making out with Sorority Queen Sloane's boyfriend Beau. The next day Kathryn pretends nothing is wrong, and although she is angry, Sam decides not to tell on Kathryn. Later when it seemed Sam would win the spot and not Kathryn, she dug up dirt on Sam's past which ruined her chances. Sam tells Sloane about Beau, who questions Sam's motives for telling the truth. In the end Kathryn ends up getting into the sorority and keeps secretly seeing Beau.
