Kathmandu University Medical School (KUMS) is one of the undergraduate schools of Kathmandu University. It is located in Kavrepalanchok District, Nepal. KUMS has about 221 students in the M.B.B.S. program. Although the medical school is still widely known as KUMS both inside and outside the country, its name was changed to Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS) in the year 2006, in view of the fact that it not only trains medical undergraduates and postgraduates, but also runs a variety of paramedical programs.

The school was conceptualized by joint efforts of Dr.Arjun Karki, Kathmandu University and Dhulikhel Hospital. It was established in 2001 in association with B and B Hospital, Scheer Memorial Hospital and Hospital and Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children.

The school is a non-profit organization with a motto of producing "technically competent and socially responsible" doctors. The main focus of the organization is to improve the health status of Nepal. www.ku.edu.np

The first batch recently graduated. The seventh batch is due to join the medical school on february, 2008. This batch will include 60 students including some foreign students. Previously, the total number of students used to be 45 only.
