Kathleen Beedles

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kathleen Beedles is a former Series Producer of British television soap opera Emmerdale. She took over from Steve Frost during 2005. Kathleen was producer and series editor for the ITV soap before becoming series producer. Kathleen also worked on Coronation Street as a story associate from 1999-2002 before joining Emmerdale.

Since becoming series producer in 2005, Kathleen has been responsible for many exciting storylines, namely Kings River Showhome Explosion that killed three people and the Tom King kidnap plot. She was also the brainchild for the biggest storyline in Emmerdale history, Who Killed Tom King? which was nominated for Best Storyline at the 2007 British Soap Awards.

In 2007, Kathleen came under fire from fans of the show. Many believing she had run out of ideas and becoming too reliant on special effects and sex related storylines.

MediaGuardian announced that Kathleen would be departing from Emmerdale as of the beginning of the new year.[1] It was revealed on ITV.com and Digital Spy that Anita Turner would take over as Series Producer from January 2008.[2][3]

Kathleen's last produced episode of Emmerdale aired on Friday 29 February 2008.

On Friday 7 March Digital Spy revealed that Kathleen will produce the latest series of ITV's Heartbeat.[4]
