Kathera is a town and a nagar panchayat in Jhansi district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

As of 2001 India census[1], Kathera had a population of 6389. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Kathera has an average literacy rate of 51%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 62%, and female literacy is 38%. In Kathera, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.
