Kate Champion

Kate Champion (born 1961, Sydney, Australia) is a contemporary dance choreographer and the director of Force Majeure, a dance collective exploring strong physical performance.
Champion began her dance training with Karen Kerkhoven and also studied in Munich. She has worked DV8 Physical Theatre in the UK and in Australia with One Extra Company, dancenorth and the Australian Dance Theatre.
Lloyd Newson of DV8 has been an important influence, she worked with him as production assistant and performer, including his Sydney 2000 Olympic Arts Festival The Cost of Living. Since the 1990s she has choreographed and danced a number of solo pieces including Face Value and About Face as well as works for Force Majeure.
