KateModern is the second interactive online series developed by LG15 Studios. Like lonelygirl15, KateModern includes product integration as an original marketing solution. KateModern is the first truly interactive show online, which utilises the tools available on Bebo to help fans interact.

KateModern videos first appear on Bebo and lg15.com, then with a delay of at least 24 hours on YouTube.

Ratings for the show's first season were extremely successful, and continue to rise in popularity as it enters season 2. See #ratings below.

[edit] Ratings

[edit] Season 1: (2007)

Season one followed a young avid blogger, Kate, and her friends as she discovers the truth behind the meaning of her abnormal blood type "trait positive" and the secret organization after it. This was from the creators of lonelygirl15, the extremely popular online internet video-log. In its first season, it garnered nearly 2 million viewers a week, for 24 weeks, totaling 48 million views.

[edit] Season 2: (2008)

Season two continues the adventures of Kate's friends, this time, as they try to discover who killed Kate Modern in the season 1 finale. It has risen in popularity, now garnering up to 2.5 million viewers a week. A twelve hour marathon entitled "Precious Blood" took place on the 5th of April 2008 in which viewers could give advice to Charlie and the other characters.

The season began with Charlie getting texts on her phone from Kate. Charlie was distraught and went in search of the killer. Charlie met Gavin and practically ignored him when she saw Lauren being thrown into the back of a car. After Charlie stormed off to follow the car, Gavin got into a huff and declared that if anyone needed him, he'd be in the pub. Charlie followed him and apologized. Terence arrived at the pub and told them that it was Steve who had kidnapped Lauren.

With Terrance leading, the three of them went to where Steve was hiding. When they arrived they discovered that Terrance had Kate's phone all along and was behind the calls to Charlie. Terrance beat up Gavin, and they ran. Terrence searched for them, saying that the most precious blood of all was spilt. Steve, Gavin, Charlie and Lauren managed to get out, but Steve and Charlie went back in after Steve declared war on Terrence. They looked inside and saw dead bodies of young girls, one of them possibly being Lauren's kidnapped sister. As they were leaving the saw a man wandering around. A security guard ran after them and they ran away.

They escaped to Steve's flat, where they shared a passionate kiss. When Charlie went for a walk afterwards to clear her head, she was grabbed from behind by Terrance armed with a knife. He told her he would kill her just like he killed Kate, confirming that he was, in fact, Kate's killer. Lee then came and said that Terrence was at Gavin’s aunt's house and so Steve, Lauren, Gavin, and Lee went to find Charlie. The group finally found Charlie tied up in rope along with Gavin’s Auntie. As they left the house they saw Terrence holding a can of oil and threatening to blow up the house. The Shadows from the Order then turned up and there was gun fire and screeching of car tires. As the car left, Gavin says “I think they dealt with Terrence”. Later on, one of the Shadows lies dead with Terrence covering him up. The episodes finishes with Terrence saying “Night, night” however, the other characters are unaware that he is still alive.
