Katastralgemeinde
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Katastralgemeinde is a cadastral subdivision of municipalities in Austria and the Italian province of Bolzano-Bozen. Since 1770 almost every Austrian municipality has Katastralgemeinden. Most of them once had been independent communes and were incorporated on the occasion of a municipal territory reform. They can be further divided into smaller localities (Ortschaften). As of 2004 there were 7,846 Katastralgemeinden in Austria.
