[edit] Summary

I took this photograph today (2-17-2007) of a bookplate engraved by Edwin Davis French over 100 years ago for author, Kate Dickinson Sweetser. The book, "The Development of Palestine Exploration, Being The Ely Lectures for 1903" (NY: Charles Scribner's Sons), was inscribed by her relative/author, Dr. Frederick Jones Bliss. This book was published in 1906, the same year the engraver died. The initials on the ribbon in the lower left corner, EDF, represent those of the engraver, Edwin Davis French.

Note: I re-uploaded a new version of the photo today (1-22-2008) without the descriptive labels & photo credit to comply with Wikipedia guidelines.--Funhistory (talk) 03:30, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
