Removed Copyrighted Material
You brought to my attention that the History of Manga Before World War II section contained copyrighted material. I have therefore deleted it. This is Wikipedia policy -- "Content that violates any copyright will be deleted." You gave me no choice about it. I do not want to offend or anger you, but the policy is very clear. An article cannot use anything that is copyrighted unless the copyright is transferred.

- You are misunderstanding. My text's content is not related. It's not the copyright problem but the GFDL problem. GFDL demands original authors' names or original text's URL when reprinting the text, however, your reprint didn't satisfy it. It's the GFDL violation without any relation to the content of my text. By the way, when posting your new message, please add it to the bottom of talkpage. --Kasuga 15:49, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Help needed
Don't worry, your drawing pad is also not needed for this one. I am trying to make Fundraising banners for the Wikimedia Foundation, Wikipedia and Commons in Japanese. I just want to be sure the Japanese text on Image:Commonsad-ja.gif makes sense to you. I am trying to convey in this message "Free images for all." If the text does not make sense, just type it out to me and I will fix the image as soon as I can. The main page for the effort is at m:Fundraising 2007/web buttons. Thanks. Sorry, I am not so active to draw the gun-girl Wikipe-tan for two reasons; Firstly, I think Wikipe-tan should not be used as the illustration in article namespace. There were a few discussions that it might collide with the avoiding of the self-reference. Secondly, (it's main reason truly) I don't want to draw an armed anthropomorphism of Wikipedia. The suitable thing for her is a pen not a gun.
I might draw the gun-girl picture not Wikipe-tan if the image is necessary for the gun-girl article. But I think now Moon Lee's image is enough for the purpose. --Kasuga (talk) 14:14, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Wikipe-tan for various Wikipedian types

Wholesome Wikipe-tan request...
I requested a while back about dressing up Wikipe-tan as a Playboy bunny. But since you haven't acted on that, and I presume you won't, I decided to request something wholesome for a change. I don't know which is most the wholesome of the four options I will give; maybe you can decide:
- Wikipe-tan as a magical girl in a cute costume (you already have her as a miko, a Gothic Lolita, and with cat ears)
- Wikipe-tan using a cellphone (like a host of Deal or No Deal)
- Wikipe-tan solving a large crossword or sudoku puzzle
- Wikipe-tan calculating on a large soroban
This is as wholesome as I can get, but I hope you like either one of them. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 15:11, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Question
Hello, Kasuga. NihonJoe recommended you to me over a question I have. I'm working on the Tetsuji Takechi article, and came across a quote from Ian Buruma. He says that Takechi called himself a minzokkushugisha, which Buruma translates as literally "ethnic nationalist" with "strong racialist overtones." The nearest word I can find to this is minzoku shugisha (民族主義者), which, as far as I know, means simply "Nationalist". (Racial views may be included in "Nationalism", but are not necessarily a strong part of it.) I've included it in the article with the clarification that Buruma translates the term as "ethnic nationalist", not that the term definitely means this. Can you offer any insight into the term? I'll be away from the computer until tomorrow, but any help will be appreciated. Regards. Dekkappai 01:15, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hello, Dekkappai. Buruma's translation is not wrong. Minzoku-shugisha (民族主義者) is a combined word of minzoku (民族, "ethnic", or "race") and shugisha (主義者, "ideologist"), so it includes ethnical meaning strongly. In Japanese language, when referring the nationalist that doesn't relate to ethnicity, we use the word kokka-shugisha (国家主義者) usually (Kokka (国家) means "nation" or "state" in Japanese). --Kasuga 15:39, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
-
- Thank you very much for clearing that up, Kasuga, and also for the Japanese lesson! (And my apologies to Mr. Buruma.) My main editing interest is in Japanese and Korean areas, and I've been bugging NihonJoe whenever I have questions on the Japanese language. I hope you won't mind if I ask you when I have questions in the future? -- Dekkappai (talk) 17:31, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Your method
I first want to join everyone else in complimenting you on your work. You already know this, but you're extremely talented.
I'm curious about something though: How do you create your graphics?
Are these freehand ink drawings that you scan? Or, are you using a drawing tablet with software?
If you are using software would you mind saying which program you use?
This is just for my own curiosity. If you don't want to announce the answers here you could also just email me -- either way I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Mascot for Wikia ACG?
Hello Kasuga, the Wikia ACG community was curious if you wanted to help in the creation of a few mascots for another set of wiki? I expect you're probably to busy or uninterested in a non-Wikipedia project, but the editors suggested it.
Wikia ACG is basically a cross-wiki project on Wikia which is unifying many of the Animanga related wiki there. We're currently borrowing Wikipe-tan for our logo, but we're actually wanting to create our own set of mascots for the various areas of the site.
If you want to see the discussion, it's at Wikia:en.anime:Forum:Wikia ACG Looking for Artists. We're using the Animepedia as the primary wiki at the moment. I'm not that active on Wikipedia, but I'll try to check for messages, so feel free to reply here, on my Wikipedia talkpage, or preferably on my Animepedia talkpage. Dantman (talk) 08:00, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- All right. I have already submitted it on Animepedia. [3]--Kasuga (talk) 18:30, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

- ^_^ Wow, you're simply amazing. I never expected getting anything from you, much less having something as good as Wikipe-tan only 3 days after asking you.
- Do you like the requests? If you like doing the requests we've got a variety of other ideas you could do. Both for different poses and different characters. We could give you a little more info on what we'd find useful, and if you have any incorporate any preferences in gender/type/etc... of characters you draw.
- Interested? Dantman (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 23:06, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

- Ok... If you want, the community over there can discuss characters and poses and if we have any good finalized ideas, I can update you here to see if you want to do it. Sound good?

Japanese adult stars
Hi Kasuga. I realize this is a touchy subject, and don't mean to offend-- but I first began working regularly at Wikipedia when I noticed articles on several very prominent Japanese adult stars nominated for deletion on notability concerns. I was able to work on many of these articles and improve them, but now again some of these subjects are being nominated for deletion because of lack of proof of notability. I know, from my stays in Japan, that these celebrities do have high visibility in mainstream TV and media appearances, etc., but it is very difficult for us editors who are not in Japan now to find proof for this kind of notability. Also, there is also some bias towards American subjects because of a heavy reliance on things like appearance in U.S. Playboy, or awards as proof of notability (the Japanese industry, as far as I know, does not give out awards nearly as often as in the U.S.), etc. As a Japanese editor, perhaps you have some ideas where I could look for sourcing, news, and especially awards for these types of celebrities? Any help you can offer will be very much appreciated. Happy editing and Happy New Year! Dekkappai (talk) 00:51, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Happy New Year!
- By the way, adult stars? It means porn actors and actress? If it's so, sorry, I can't help about the genre perhapsly, because I hardly watch porn movies, and don't read porn magazines (except them in manga media). --Kasuga (talk) 18:30, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for the reply, Kasuga. Yes-- I meant the Japanese erotic cinema and porn industry. No problem if you can't help for sourcing on these genres. I just thought, as a native Japanese speaker, you might know of some resource I could search for information-- news, mainstream media appearances, awards, etc. I know that in Japan the media covers these subjects, but, for us who are not in Japan it's so difficult to find these sources... I'll keep searching though. Thanks again, and happy editing! Dekkappai (talk) 18:40, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Wikipe-tan haters
I really don't understand why there are people complaining about your wonderful artwork on the Wikep-tan page. I mean, it just makes me so frusterated, what is the major problem it seems most American men have with cute things? It's not like they have to like it, but at least accept it. I'm wondering if you might understand this from a Japanese perspective, because it puzzles me. Why can't people just be happy and enjoy the cute? 24.12.117.102 (talk) 10:13, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- The people who oppose Wikipe-tan believe that, as a serious encyclopedia, having things like mascots will cause some of our seriousness to slide down. They claim that Britannica, Encarta and a few other encyclopedias do not have mascots. However, I don't have a major problem with it, as an American male. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 20:32, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- That's cool. I think people need to realize not everyone is so deathly serious, that they can't enjoy fun once in awhile. Violet yoshi (talk) 01:34, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comment.
- It's not only American problem. There are some of men who have strong antipathy to cute characters in also Japan. Go Itou, the Japanese manga critic, names these antipathies "Moephobia" in his 網状言論F改 ISBN 4791760093. He states Moephobia is caused by their cynicism to deny the affection toward cute characters, because men are not allowed to love openly cute characters in the society where we live. (But it's mere one of opinions. I don't say all people who oppose Wikipe-tan are Moephobia.)
- By the way. I think that there is misunderstanding that Wikipe-tan is trying to become the mascot of the whole of Wikipedia. No, she is just the icon image for Wikiproject Anime.--Kasuga (talk) 10:09, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Vectorized version of Wikipe-tan
User:Editor at Large has taken up the task of making an svg vector version of Wikipe-tan full length.png, so that the image can be re-nominated as a Featured Picture on the English Wikipedia again. She's close to finishing it, and left the following message on my talk page. I thought you would like to see what's going on, and also see if you had any comments or requests before she's done. -- Ned Scott 03:26, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- "I finally managed to finish the main colour sections; you can see the temp and 2/3rds-done upload here. All that's left is the lineart, and that will cover up the tiny little white bits poking through pieces and such - so don't worry, it will be smooth and perfect once the lineart is done and she's all assembled properly.
I took a bit of artistic license (a very tiny bit) and fixed up some minor things like the shape of her eyes and smoothed some rough patches, but other than that she's pretty much identical as far as I could make her. If there are any changes people think should be made now is the time to request them, before the lineart is completed! Tiny or not-so-tiny, I'll see what I can do; I just need to know and try to see if it works. I love critique so don't be afraid to give me a huge list, the only way I can improve her is if I know what's wrong!Best regards and hope things so far are up to expectations, -- Editor at Large • talk 05:02, 3 February 2008 (UTC) "

Hi Kasuga! Wikipe-tan wearing ao dai is truly a masterpiece; the cutest Wikipetan I've ever seen. On behalf of Wikiproject Vietnam, I would like to say special thanks to you. Cheers! @pple complain 14:27, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
No way!
You drew the anime mascot thing? Hey, do you use computer software for the color? Oh, and that Vietnamese uniform thing looks awesome! I'll work hard on my art too! Slapmeorelse (talk) 14:00, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I drew. When coloring, I use Photoshop 5.0. Keep up your good work! --Kasuga (talk) 19:27, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Wikipe-tan for Admin Coaching
Can you make a Wikipe-tan for the WP:ADMINCOACH project? It should be based off of a Head coach. Could it include a Whistle and a Clipboard? As in http://www.healthierfeds.opm.gov/images/coordinators_1.jpg . Thank you. MBisanz talk 05:11, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- How about this? --Kasuga (talk) 14:00, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

It's me again, Kasuga!
Hi, again! From the No way! section that I did, you should probably remember me! Listen, I've got an art request. Have you heard of a game called Mario Tennis: Power Tour (Mario Tennis Advance in Japan)? I just want a sort of idea of what Kasuga would look like in the game. Simply for an idea, here is a picture that I found that has all the icons of what all the characters (except for the main characters) look like. I'm sorry for any convienience, but I hope you can do this! Thank you! Slapmeorelse (talk) 02:02, 4 March 2008 (UTC) (PS. I'm a fan of the Mario Tennis series!)
- Sorry, I can't understand well what you're saying because I have problem in English. What do you want to me? Do you want to see my avatar like the game? --Kasuga (talk) 12:27, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I just want to know what she would like like as if she were in the game. Slapmeorelse (talk) 20:34, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Image:Mario Tennis; Power Tour Coverart.jpg
Okay, if you know who the Mario characters are, you'll notice on the image that two of them on the image are not Mario characters. Do you know if you can draw Wikipe-tan in the same outfit the girl wears? (She is not the blonde one, just in case you never played Mario before) Her skirt is not visible. It's got red stripes on it. Make the skirt plaid if you want to. Slapmeorelse (talk) 18:52, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Excuse me, I replaced your image with simple text-link. Because fairuse images can't be used except in the article namespace. By the way, which article or project will you use the picture for? Please tell me the name of the article or the project firstly, if the picture is really necessary for Wikiprojects. You should search for other places like deviantART if you are requesting for only your enjoyment. Wikipedia is not the place for art comissions. --Kasuga (talk) 12:50, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Wikipe-tan in Baro't saya/Terno
I've seen that you've made an images of Wikipe-tan in an ao dai and in an ancient Egyptian costume. This time, can you make an image of Wikipe-tan in the Philippine costume for women, the baro't saya (a.k.a. the Philippine terno)? I'm doing this as a surprise favor for the Tambayan Philippines group here in Wikipedia. If you don't know what a baro't saya looks like, you can look at the images in the two links provided to help you:

Looking forward for your reply! - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 09:10, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry to have kept you waiting for long time, Nanami. I have drawn your request belatedly.
- I couldn't find the accurate sources about the costume, so this picture might have some mistakes.--Kasuga (talk) 14:34, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- That's OK. Thanks! That's exactly what I'm thinking! I'm sure the folks at the Tambayan will be lucky to see this. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 07:59, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
