Kasib Powell (born March 18, 1981 in Teaneck, New Jersey) is an American professional basketball player currently with the NBA's Miami Heat. He played collegiately at Texas Tech University.[1][2]
He previously played in Serbia, Greece, Bosnia, Russia,[1] and most recently for Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Development League, averaging 22.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists.[3] He also played in a number of preseason games for the Minnesota Timberwolves (2004), Chicago Bulls (2005), Orlando Magic (2006) and Memphis Grizzlies (2007)[1] but failed to make any the teams for the regular season.
Because of a depleted roster due to various injuries,[3] the Miami Heat signed Powell to a ten-day contract in March 2008.[2] He got his first career start on March 27.[4] On April 3, 2008, they decided against signing him to a second ten-day contract,[5] however, he was re-signed 5 days later for the remainder of the season.[6] Powell grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey, where he played at Teaneck High School.[7]
