Through the Kashiwa International Relations Association, the city of Kashiwa maintains relationships with cities in China, Guam, and the continental United States. Since 1973, Kashiwa has been the sister city of the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, California.

[edit] History

In Edo period, there were ranches for military horses of Tokugawa shogunate in the city. A few banks of the ranch are left.
