[edit] Hemofiltration & Dialysis
You have reference for the bit about hemofiltration, that you added to dialysis?
You wrote "[h]emofiltration is now also used for chronic treatment." That isn't really news... Kishimoto T, Yamagami S, Tanaka H, Ohyama T, Yamamoto T, Yamakawa M, Nishino M, Yoshimoto S, Maekawa M. Superiority of hemofiltration to hemodialysis for treatment of chronic renal failure: comparative studies between hemofiltration and hemodialysis on dialysis disequilibrium syndrome. Artif Organs. 1980 May;4(2):86-93. PMID 7396769.
What is different now if anything? You wrote "[it's] used for chronic treatment, especially in Europe." Any numbers for that?
I look forward to your contributions in the future. You seem to have some expertise in hemofiltration--feel free to re-write the hemofiltration article. Nephron T|C 20:45, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Phosphate
Hello, sorry to take so long in getting back to you, I've been away in France doing research, with little internet access unfortunately. On the subject of phosphate removal with intermittent hemofiltration-I think that you're right-you get good phosphate removal with CVVHF, which is of course continuous, my mistake, the whole intermittent hemofiltration issue was one I didn't enven consider when I drafted the article. You shouldn't wait for a reply or permission before editing articles btw thats the broad idea of the wikipedia project, it certainly lookslike you've got more expertise in this area than me.. Are there many centres using intermittent hemofiltration in the Netherlands?Felix-felix 17:03, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hemodiafiltration
Yep, lots of units in the uk using hemodiafiltration also, but are any netherlands units using hemofiltration alone for chronic RRT?Felix-felix
[edit] hemofiltration
None of the centres are using hemofiltration for chronic RRT. However hemodiafiltration is gaining more interest and is used more and more. My own research showed rather little effect in chronic RRT when comparing standard HD with HF.
