Me with a Lamborghini Diablo

The car of the day for June 20, 2007 is the Ford Five Hundred.

Thanks to the corporate greed and incompetence brought along by Jacques Nasser during his money grubbing tenure as CEO, Ford had dug itself into a giant hole financially, as he blew millions of dollars on pointless acquisations, such as Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, and many investments into small businesses that had nothing to do with automobiles, such as phone and credit card companies. Overall, the reciept came to tens of billions of dollars on pointless spending, and due to Nasser's stupidity, a once strong automaker was now in debt. Even worse, he ordered to Ford's designers to "Let [The Ford Taurus] die." The Taurus was just left to age and become a low key fleet special. So, Ford designed two replacements for the Taurus, the Ford Fusion and the Ford Five Hundred. The Five Hundred has to be the best car that nobody had ever heard of. While eveyone knew what a Taurus was, nobody knew what a Five Hundred was, and due to it not fitting into Ford's compaign of three bar grills and rappers screaming , "BOLD MOVES!", they just abandoned it, and it tanked. And, kind of humorously, it haas been replaced by a new Taurus. See previous cars of the day

Is there a car you want to be Car of the Day?
Please suggest it here - thank you!

Hi, I'm Karrmann. I'm 15, but don't let my young age fool you. I am very knowledgable about cars and I take my editing seriously, and I may know more about cars than some adults. I was born and raised in Detroit, so you can say I am a pure bred car enthusiast!

I am a fanatic of the Gran Turismo series of games and I am very fluent at playing them.

I decided to join WikiProject Automobiles because I noticed that there are a lot of car articles that should be expanded.

Things I never understood about Automobiles

  • Why does the Toyota Camry station wagon have two rear wipers?
  • Why were the Dodge Neon and Plymouth Neon sold in the same place with the same equipment and the same name? Talk about pointless badge engineering.....
  • Why when GM tried to revitalize the Oldsmobile brand did they let quality slip significantly?
  • What was the point of the Eagle brand? Really....
  • Why does The CEO of Ford drive a Lexus?
  • Why does Ford keep naming their cars stupid names, like Edge and Flex?
  • Why did Chrysler add value minded cars to the Dodge line back in the early 90s? Wasn't that what Plymouth was supposed to be for?
  • Why does Ford feature Taylor Hicks in their ads? Everybody knows that outside of the Soul Patrol, (Proud member myself) everybody hates him.
  • Why does the Vector W8 have a 3 speed automatic transmission?
  • Why did Ford launch the Merkur brand at the same time of the Taurus?
  • Why did Ford discontinue the Taurus, just to bring it back 2 months later?
  • Why are the new Cadillacs' interiors so cheap and plasticy?
  • Why did GM advertise the Oldsmobile Intrigue without telling anyone that it was an Oldsmobile?
  • Why did Ford know that the Taurus SHO had a catastrophic defect, and did nothing about it?
  • Why did Saturn jack up the price of the Sky when it started selling well, if they are supposed to be a customer minded organization?
  • Why did Chrysler aim the Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser at the same market demographic?
  • Why did Chrysler make the square Dodge Dynasty their main midsized competitor when the aero designed Ford Taurus was launched just a year before?

Images

I also am a photographer for Wikiproject Automobiles. All the images I have taken thus far can be found here They may or may not have been inserted to their proper articles. Although I took over 100 candid automobile images, I have retired from taking car pictures outside of car shows due to concerns over the legal status. I have been told that when taking candid pictures of automobiles, I can be mistaken for a terrorist.

Interests and articles I edit

Although I mainly edit articles related to automobiles, I edit a large number of articles. These are subjects that I am interested in, and edit articles related to.

  • Automobiles
  • Video games
  • Celebrities
  • Murderers
  • Disasters
  • Murder victims

Articles that I have created, expanded, or fixed up
