Talk:Karratha Airport
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm sure that this airport is much older than 1983. Prior to it being Karratha Airport it was known as Dampier Airport. I'm certain that regular services by MMA were taking place from the late 60s. The link referenced refers to the age of the current terminal building, not the airport itself. --Rharris3 09:46, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Busiest?
I wonder what keeps this airport so busy, when there's only one airline flying to it, on two routes. Such a busy airport would surely be served by Virgin Blue, Skywest or even Airnorth? Having been to Broome, which is served by those three airlines in addition to Qantas and receives airline traffic contantly, I can't help but wondering why Karratha Airport would be busier. :) (Haven't been to Karratha though)
Is it because it's some kind of RFDS centre or does it get a lot of chartered mining flights?
