Taken out as it refers to the group Soul Asylum, not to Mueller;

The group formed in 1981 as a garage band under the name of 'Loud Fast Rules' in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band which also included Dave Pirner, Sterling Campbell, Grant Young, and Dan Murphy, later changed their name to 'Soul Asylum' in 1983. The band went on to release several albums throughout the 1980s, but not any real sucesses. In 1992, they released their album, "Grave Dancers Union" which was a a huge success for them and their 1998 album, "Candy From A Stranger". The group also had some hit songs including, "Runaway Train" and "Misery".
In 1994 there was a rumour that the band would break up because of Pirner's romance with actress Winona Ryder, but they continued performing and recording until 2005.
Other recordings include, "Heavy Rotation", "Little Too Clean", "Jack Of All Trades", "I Know", "Losin' It", "Black Gold", "Lonely For You", "Without A Trace", "Homesick", "I Did My Best" and "Passing Sad Daydream".

[edit] The matter of age

Seems CNN has a conflicting view of Mueller's age: http://edition.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/07/27/mus.soul.asylum.ap/index.html This news item states he was 41 when he died. Does anyone know where the date and age in the article are from?

[edit] Throat cancer

Was he a smoker?
