[edit] Karen a "notorious criminal"?
I think it is a bit unfair to label Karen Ellis a "criminal" (complete with "Australian criminals" profile tag to boot), up there with the notorious murderers, rapists, and real pedophiles. Her "victim" (who is now an adult) is not negatively affected by his relationship with her (as seen on 60 Minutes at the end of last year) even though some people who call themselves "sexual assault experts" claim the damage won't show until further down the line. It seems to me that the only crime she committed was being in love with someone who happened to be one of her students, and that he happened to be a few years younger, when you hear so much of young women marrying men many years or more older than them. Granted, the boy was underage — at 15 years old, which does put it in a grey area, but how much culpability was really involved? 202.161.27.152 04:37, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
"Granted, the boy was underage — at 15 years old, which does put it in a grey area, but how much culpability was really involved?" - culpability was determined by a court of law and she was found guilty. Underage is underage - the law does not make exceptions. --203.214.83.243 14:33, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
