Talk:Kara (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article should not have individual biographies on each band member, only discography, the band's history, current events, and other notable items that can be backed up with WP:RS. Since it looks like the author is still in active editing of article, I'll give this author 12 hours to remove the bios. - Jameson L. Tai talkcontribs 12:12, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Those aren't biographies; they are profiles just like how they are categorized. There is no depth in the profiles to justify calling them biographies. Feel free to take a look around Wikipedia and see similar established articles use the same format and rationale before making such accusations and threats. --Nguyenjonathan (talk) 02:27, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Refer to Korn. you don't see individual pictures, blood types, and other nonsense in there. Also read WP:TRIVIA - Jameson L. Tai talkcontribs 16:37, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
If you notice, they also have links to specific biographies because there is enough information to warrant a separate page, and it would be redundant to have profiles and then links to biographies for those people. Look at Big Bang (group) or TVXQ. I'll give you the trivia comment to you and will agree that things such as the blood types aren't needed, but that only goes to contradict your earlier comment on the profiles being biographies.--Nguyenjonathan (talk) 01:45, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Regardless of whether I may or may not be contradicting myself, any violations in policy will be removed from Wikipedia as per their respective policies. - Jameson L. Tai talkcontribs 04:24, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Also, the bands you cite do not have individual pictures of their band members. The current article places focus on the members of the group more than the group's work. If you can place focus on the group's music instead of their band members' blood types and other useless trivia, there should not be as big of a problem. (You'll need to fix the other problems the tags indicate as well) - Jameson L. Tai talkcontribs 04:28, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Things in the member bio that needs to be removed (WP:CRUFT):
  • Blood Type
  • Favorite Color
  • Academic Background
  • Fin.K.L Comparison
  • Miscellaneous Information
These things are not necessary. WP:INDISCRIMINATE WP:NOT#ADVERTISING - Jameson L. Tai talkcontribs 04:38, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Like I said, I agree with removing the trivia part, but realize that this is a relatively new group that is gaining popularity and prominence. Their work is limited and their history moreso, it only looks like there is more focus placed on the members because of the proportionality of the article. From what it looks like you are asking, a condensing and rearranging of the information would be more appropriate (of course, in addition to the removal of the blood types and favorite color), rather than completely deleting the article and/or the profiles, and have been a better call that I would agree with completely. And I have nothing to do with the tags, these posts have just been to contest your claim for deletion of the article and then its profile section.--Nguyenjonathan (talk) 07:56, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Then remove it and get it over with. The only way this conversation will move forward is when these problems are fixed. Arguing with me will not take off those tags, and it will not give leeway to not following Wikipedia policies. - Jameson L. Tai talkcontribs 08:01, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
