Kars, Ontario

Kars is a small village on the Rideau River within the rural section of the city of Ottawa, Ontario. Prior to amalgamation in 2000 it was part of Rideau Township. The community is located just south of Manotick, Ontario (a small suburb of the city) and to the west of the village of Osgoode, Ontario. Schools include Kars Public School and Rideau Valley Middle School. The Kars Fair is held annually in July. Previously named Wellington, the village was renamed after the Turkish city of Kars in early 20th century. Public high school students in this area go to South Carleton High School in Richmond.
