Karneid (Cornedo) (Italian: Cornedo all'Isarco; German: Karneid; Archaic (1142 AD): Cornedo; Archaic (1170 AD): Corneit, Curneit, Curneid, Cormeit; Latin: Cornus) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 50 km northeast of the city of Trento and about 4 km east of the city of Bolzano (de. Bozen). As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,213 and an area of 40.4 km².[1]
The municipality of Karneid (Cornedo) contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Breien (Briè), Kardaun (Cardano), Collepietra, Prato all'Isarco, and San Valentino in Campo.
Karneid borders the following municipalities: Bolzano, Völs am Schlern (Fiè allo Sciliar), Welschnofen (Nova Levante), Deutschnofen (Nova Ponente), Ritten (Renon), and Tiers (Tires).
