Karnavedham

It is a ritual practiced by Brahmins. Karnavedham means Piercing the earlobes. This is done with a particular thorn. Butter is applied to the wound. It is applicable to both male and female children. But in modern age, it is done only for female children. This practice is mainly carried out by South Indians nowadays.
