Karlsson Spools AB is a Swedish-based manufacturer of spools for hydraulic valves that are used in hydraulic machinery. More specifically, the spools are part of directional control valves where the spool slides inside a housing to route hydraulic fluid to mechanical components. Some examples of equipment that use hydraulic machinery are: Excavators, forklifts and machinery used for logging.
The company manufactures spools in sizes ranging between 25-400 mm (1”-16”) length and diameters between 5-50 mm (.120”-2”). Tolerances of + 0.00075 mm (.000030”) can be obtained. The production line includes a range of steps including CNC turning, milling machines, coining, deburring, induction heat treatment and plating. However the tolerances are achieved mainly by means of high-precision grinding machines. [1]
Karlsson Spools produces approximately 4 million spools per year to customers in Europe, the USA, Asia and South America. The company is located in Sala, Sweden and Kunshan, China [2] with a distribution centre in Indiana, USA. [3] [4]
The company was established in 1955, as “Åke Karlsson Mekaniska AB”. Since 1988 is belongs to the Grimaldi Industri Group.
