Karl Theobald (born 5 August 1969) is an English comedian and actor.
He is originally from Lowestoft where he studied at The Denes High School around 1985 and went to dance school at an early age. He graduated from the Drama Centre in 2000, to work with Theatre de Complicite.
Theobald is the one time comedy partner of Russell Brand. Brand and Theobald formed a double act during the nineties, called Theobald and Brand on Ice. This is mentioned by Brand on his BBC radio show and in his autobigraphy, My Booky Wook.
Theobald is most famous as the down-trodden Martin Dear in the Channel 4 sitcom Green Wing. He has also written comedy, writing for such programs such as The Sketch Show and Smack the Pony. He is currently appearing in Donkey's Years in the West End. Theobald also appears in the radio sitcom The Exterminating Angels.
In 2008 Theobald joined the anomaly team in the ITV science fiction series Primeval as Oliver Leek. On 12th January 2008, Karl made an appearance on a "999" Special of The Weakest Link.
