[edit] MMA career

In 2005, Noons won the PRIDE Fighting Championship's auditions as the best striker. However, he reached an impasse with the group when it came to signing a contract.

In 2006, Noons signed a deal with promoter Gary Shaw that allowed him to participate in both boxing and mixed martial arts. He was defeated by Charles "Krazy Horse" Bennett in EliteXC's inaugural event in February 2007, but rebounded with a win over Edson Berto at the first ShoXC event. Noons recently became the first EliteXC lightweight champion, defeating Nick Diaz in a controversial bout in November 2007.

On June 14th, 2008 Noons will defend his EliteXC Lightweight belt against Yves Edwards in Hawaii.[2]
