Karl Duguid (born March 21, 1978 in Hitchin) is a versatile midfielder who plays club football for Colchester United F.C.
Karl has been with Colchester since he signed with them aged 16, and is currently the club's longest serving player. He has been rewarded with a testimonial match, as well as the club captaincy. An established crowd favourite at Layer Road, he is often labelled as "Mr Colchester United".[citation needed]
Duguid has had some injuries, including a knee injury which ruled him out of the whole 2004-05 season. He returned as captain, playing a key role in achieving promotion to the Football League Championship, during the 2005-06 season. Duguid scored against rivals Ipswich Town on September 29, 2006 at Layer Road.
