Karl Dalhouse was General Secretary of the Kingston YMCA, Jamaica from the 1960s to the late 1970s. In this role he had responsibility for all the Y's activities but is particularly remembered for his work with the Y's competitive swimming team, the Y Speedos. He died tragically young when his MPV was hit head-on by a dumper truck as he drove from the Y to the National Stadium Pool to train the the team[1].

A few years prior to his death, Mr Dalhouse had instigated an annual, international[2] swimming meet (initially with clubs in Nassau, Bahamas and Bermuda) which continues to this day[3] and has been renamed in his honour: The Karl Dalhouse International Memorial Swim Meet.

Mr Dalhouse was also a leader in the Rotary Club of Jamaica.
