Karji

Karji (alternative spelling Karjee) is a small village in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra state in India. It is located in the Khed taluka on the Khed - Bahirawli road, about 18km from Khed.

Karji (village code 03988500[1]) consists of four sub-villages, with over 600 homes and a total population approaching 3000. Community surnames include Tambe, Parkar and Choughle. The main religions are Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam.

Education is available in Urdu, and Adarsha High School and Junior College in Karji[2] was one of the first schools at this level in the area.

The village has a water scheme, a telephone exchange and a postal service. The Karji branch of the State Bank of India[3] is in Khed Taluka.
