Karinna Moskalenko

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karinna Moskalenko (born 1954 in Baku, Azerbaijan SSR), is Russia’s leading human rights lawyer[1], defending, amongst others, Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Garry Kasparov.

She and her team at Moscow’s International Protection Centre have won 27 cases against the Russian government at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg and have more than 100 applications pending.

[edit] Recent Developments

The Russian Prosecutor-General’s Office is currently seeking to have Moskalenko disbarred on the grounds of having negligently defended Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the former owner of Yukos. Khodorkovsky however has made no complaint. In a statement he has declared himself “fully satisfied” with Moskalenko’s work.[2]
