Karen Ritscher

Karen Ritscher is an American musician and academic.

She is currently on faculty at the Oberlin Conservatory and has taught and performed extensively throughout the United States.

Ms. Ritscher served as the Principal Violist for both the Dallas Opera and the Houston Grand Opera, the Assistant Principal for the American Composers Orchestra, and was a member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra for sixteen years.

Ms. Ritscher's pedagogy style is a synthesis of Karen Tuttle's concept of coordination, Martha Katz's concept of freedom, Eastern philosophy, and a matter-of-fact approach to practice technique.

Ms. Ritscher has served on the faculty of Rice University, Mannes College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and in the Karen Tuttle Coordination Workshops.
