Karen Treshler Pamintuan is a TV show host, and young celebrity from the Philippines in her early 20's. She is 5 foot 8 inch, from Honolulu, Hawaii, and is a Eurasian beauty with an ethnic mix of Scottish, Czech and Spanish ancestry from her mother's side, and Filipino-Chinese on her Filipino father's side. The father's family, descendants from the Fabella Clan from Pagsanghan, Laguna in the Philippines has been in the fashion trade since the 1930s when Karen's paternal grandmother, Esperanza Fabella Pamintuan had a dress shop frequented by Manila's top 400 families. Her grandmother better known as Nena Fabella Pamintuan, passed on her legacy to Karen's Dad to run her dress shop, but unfortunately, Nena passed away in 1969 and her Dad, Louie migrated to New York City to study at Hunter College to take his master's degree. Karen's aunt who remained in the Philippines continued the dress shop. Her aunt Beatrice Pamintuan Tesoro (http://www.patistesoro.com.ph/)credits her start in the fashion industry from her mother Nena, and is a well respected fashion designer, known as "Patis Tesoro"( whhttp://www.patistesoro.com.ph/) is noted for 'haute couture' traditional Filipino style apparel. Raffy Tesoro, who at that time was assisting Ogie Atos in ramp runway productions, encouraged and trained Karen to walk the fashion ramp runway. Raffy Tesoro trained his younger cousin Karen to do her first runway show for Jun Jun Cambe's debutante collection in 2002. Later that year, Karen was noticed by a advertising agency scout and casted to do a print ad for a telecom company. She was later invited her to join a contest advertised in SEVENTEEN MAGAZINE PHILIPPINES and won the " Miss Chanel International Model Search" at the age of 15 years old. Karen was invited by the Philippine's fashion icon Ben Farrales himself to do his gala show for charity at the Shangri-La Hotel in Makati, and then continued to do runway shows for such famous designers like Rajo Laurel. Karen at the age of 16, was selected from among a group top young models in the Philippines by Maya Calica editor, and Lilen Uy official photographer of SEVENTEEN MAGAZINE PHILIPPINES, to become the cover girl and awarded the first title ever of "SEVENTEEN MODEL OF THE YEAR" in 2002. She was cover girl for SEVENTEEN MAGAZINE for the following years, in 2003 and 2005. She has since done several T.V. commercials, print ads and countless editorials and advertisements for Philippine magazines such as MEGA, PREVIEW, CANDY, CHALK,MEG, COSMPOLITAN, METRO, LIFESTYLE ASIA, Philippines TATTLER, and was featured on the eligible list that got her on the covers of the prestigious Philippine Tattler, and Lifestyle Asia. Karen was fortunate to be chosen to be the muse by noted photographer, and "America's Next Top Model" judge Nigel Barker during an exhibition event sponsored by DKNY and Philippine Tattler at Ayala Malls in Makati and Alabang during his visit to the Philippines 2007.
Karen Pamintuan decided that in spite of her success in modeling, she had to concentrate on her first priority and finish her college education. She took a long break from modeling and graduated college in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Communications from University of Asia Pacific in the Philippines. Karen Pamintuan, is also an avid sportswoman. Karen played power forward position for the girl's basketball team during her high school days in Brent International School in the Philippines. Karen along with her team, was sponsored by Nike, to play in the Asia-Pacific International Ladies Basketball Competition in Shanghai in 2002, and Beijing, China in 2003, winning the team competition in Tokyo in the same year. Karen has taken fencing in college, and is also an accomplished equestrian, and show jumper training under Asian Gold Medalist, Mikee Cojuanco- Jaworski in the Philippines, and has taken various clinics, and seminars in show jumping with Olympic Silver Medalist, Vicky Roycroft in Australia in 2007 and in the Philippines in 2008.
KAREN PAMINTUAN in 2006 represented her school, University of Asia Pacific and placed 2nd in an open inter collegiate D.J.'s competition in 2007,and though she didn't win, she was selected to be host on her own show nightly, "Playtime with Hazel and Karen" an all girl's talk show on DZRH 93.1 F.M. "Monster Radio" where Karen plays the latest tunes appealing to younger audiences. She is the current co-host of ETC TV Philippines lifestyle program, "Chill Spot," produced by Solar Broadcast Network in early 2008 with fellow co-host KENNY WAYMACK from Florida, U.S.A.. Karen provides English speaking audiences of her generation fresh commentary on fashions,events, regional cuisine, places of interest, and celebrities they interview in the Asia Pacific region.
