Karen Gelardi is a current artist living and working in Maine. Her work often features pinecones, branches, and nature-inspired patterns.
Gelardi spent much of her childhood in Maine. She attended Rhode Island School of Design where she earned her BFA in Painting.

[edit] Matter
January 11 - February 22, 2008 The exhibit “Matter” showed works by artists: Mike Andrews, Catharine Draper, Karen Gelardi, Amy Honchell, Caroline Lathan-Stiefel, and Mark Newport. The exhibit was curated by Catharine Draper as part of SPACE Gallery’s annual “Artists Curating Artists” series.

In October 2007 the exhibit Thicket at the Center for Maine Contemporary Arts in Rockport, Maine featured works spanning Gelardi's career.
[edit] Saco Bog
Summer of 2007 at the Front Room Gallery Karen Gelardi presented her sewn sticks and branches, drawings, collages, 3D-printed seeds, and other work in her solo exhibit: Saco Bog. Coincidentally, the show ran until July 29th, which is International Bog Day.
[edit] Maine Print Project at the Space Gallery
As part of the celebration of "200 Years of Printmaking in Maine" Gelardi showed work at the Space Gallery in Portland. Her giant inverted tree as well as her 3D digitally printed seeds were included in the show. Her tree was featured on the cover of Art in New England.

Karen Gelardi is one of the many current artists contributing to artist Andrea Zittel's smockshop. Gelardi's smocks were available at the smockshop at LA venues: Regen Projects and Young Art Gallery.
