Karen Furneaux

Karen Furneaux (born December 23, 1976 in Halifax, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian kayaker. She began kayaking at age 12, and is a student at Dalhousie University. She finished in 5th place at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the women's K2 500 m event, and has won two world championship gold medals, the first in K2 200 m in 1998 in Szeged, Hungary. The Second coming in the K1 200 m in 2001 in Poznań, Poland. She has also won two silver medals at world championships, the first in 1997 in the K4 200 m in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and then in 1999 in the K2 500 m in Milan, Italy.
