Karel Pilař

Karel Pilař [PEE-lash] (born December 23, 1977 in Prague, Czechoslovakia) is a professional ice hockey player for the Atlanta Thrashers of the NHL.

Pilař made his debut in the 2001–02 NHL season, playing 23 games and he had 4 assists in 11 playoff games for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Karel's NHL career was halted in 2004 when a viral infection attacked his heart and forced him out of the game.

As of the 2006–2007 NHL Season, Karel made a comeback to the professional hockey level. He signed a one year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs AHL affiliate the Toronto Marlies. However, he did not play another game for the Leafs and signed with the Atlanta Thrashers for the 2007–2008 NHL Season. Before playing a game with the Thrashers, he was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Blackhawks. On Tuesday October 2nd Pilar was reclaimed by the Thrashers
