Karaurus is an extinct genus of salamander from the Jurassic period of Kazakhstan. It was about 20 cm (8 in) long and is one of the oldest salamanders known.

Karaurus was built just like modern salamanders, and probably swam through fresh water feeding on aquatic snails, worms, crustaceans and insects.
